Also discussed is the creepy Oedipus-like nature of the relationship between Morgan La Fey and Mordrid, a well-known child actor voicing Wonder Woman, dazzling visuals throughout, and a full education on the hammered dulcimer! The final Saturday of September also wraps up the DCAU Review’s first ever Green Lantern month, and what better way to finish it than with the entire Green Lantern Corps featured on the Justice League Unlimited episode “The Return.” The Good Brothers discuss how they would’ve preferred the  plot of this one to be focused, what opportunities may have been hurt by the shorter episode run-time, the all-new look of the Corps, Liam’s head-canon on why Kilowog’s appearance changes again, and why a pair of voices may have a bit too recognizable. Plus, the hosts discuss the return of the Green Lantern theme, Lex Luthor always being the smartest guy in the room and Amazo as the DCAU’s Dr. Manhattan. Plus a sneak peek at which show they’ll be covering in October, all on this week’s new DCAU Review!

Ep. 122 – STAS – In Brightest Day…

As announced on last week’s episode, the Good Brothers are mixing things up for the month of September, reviewing a month of Green Lantern episodes featured all across DC animation in honor of the Green Lantern’s 80th anniversary. Kicking off the month, the hosts are covering the first appearance of the Green Lantern in the DCAU with Superman: The Animated Series episode “In Brightest Day…” which features fan-favorite Kyle Rayner. Cal and Liam discuss the episode in detail, including how it feels like a backdoor pilot for an unfulfilled Green Lantern animated spin-off, the soaring and memorable GL theme used throughout, whether or not this would’ve been better served in two parts and their thoughts on the DCAU GL uniforms. Plus, they discuss the mashup origin given this Kyle Rayner, the myriad of Easter Eggs, and whether or not this episode makes an actual lasting impact on the DCAU based on how the GL character evolves.  The hosts also preview which GL will be featured on next week’s all-new DCAU Review!

Ep. 101 – JLU – Initiation

After last week’s historic 100th episode, the Good Brothers return, picking up right where “Starcrossed” ended, reviewing the very first episode of Justice League Unlimited titled “Initiation.” Joining the hosts this week for the very first time is special correspondent James Strecker from the Watchtower Database. Join the hosts as they delve into how the start of JLU influenced James and the others to start their website, allowed them to take their passion to new heights with a larger universe and initial thoughts when as children, the hosts first learned of the expanded Justice League roster. But that’s not all, as the hosts also give a full review of the episode that introduced us to Green Arrow, which characters appear in the first scene and a hilarious fan theory as to why some are never seen again in the JLU, why CGI animation seems to always stick out, which character was recast after a lackluster performance and whether this story was an effective way to launch JLU.  Plus full scorecards from the hosts and James on this week’s all new DCAU Review.

Ep. 31 – JL – In Blackest Night Part I & II

Episode 31 of the DCAU Review picks up right where the Good Brothers left off in the with the second Justice League story entitled “In Blackest Night.” With a strong focus on the inner workings of the Green Lantern Corps, this episode turns out to be less than memorable for our hosts.  This leads the boys to talk some interesting topics including Red Foreman from That 70’s Show, how they may have directed the episode if they were in charge, and their disappointment in a lack of Easter Eggs. All of this, plus an official scorecard!
