Ep. 153 – BTAS – Mudslide

The Man Who Killed Batman | Mudslide | The BATTASS Podcast

Continuing with another review of a classic Batman: The Animated Series cartoon, the Good Brothers continue in the second episode of the Clayface saga, titled “Mudslide.” The hosts talk a plot that has its ups and downs including an odd twist that ends up making Batman out to be a villain in the same vein as Ferris Boyle. Visuals steal the show however as a relatively unknown animation studio incorporates some elements of horror and old Hollywood lore to create an outstanding treat for the eyes. Cal and Liam also discuss another masterful score from the legendary Shirley Walker and a small but powerful voice cast that leans heavily on Batman and Alfred working on the main investigation and yet another great episode title card. It’s a super-sized Episode 6 of The DCAU Review! Cal & Liam discuss a pair of Batman:The Animated Series episodes on opposite ends of the scale when it comes to their scorecards. First up they cover an almost-universally despised episode 6, The Underdwellers. A controversial plot leaves the guys feeling uncomfortable and desperate to clean their palates with another episode. They then jump into covering one of the highest-scoring episodes to date, episode 7 entitled P.O.V. – an homage to the old Max Fleischer Superman cartoons of the 1940s and a story that relies heavily on non-Batman characters. Fun, laughs, full score cards for each episode, PLUS Liam’s #CapeMovement Corner all on this week’s edition of the DCAU Review!
