Static in Africa" | DC Animated Universe | Fandom

The month of July draws to a close with one last review of an episode of Static Shock. This week’s appropriately titled episode “Static in Africa” finds Virgil Hawkins taking a trip to Ghana where he runs into another local superhero and his adversary.  The Good Brothers discuss Anansi’s folklore origins, as well as his connection to another DCAU hero. The hosts also discuss some of the poignant real-world topics touched on, where they wish the focus would’ve played out more, Static losing his jacket, the return of Liam’s #CapeMovement Corner, Osebo’s potential origins, and why this episode deserves a re-watch. Plus, the guys preview next week’s show and give a monthly roundup from this month’s coverage on this week’s all-new DCAU Review!

Ep. 114 – Static Shock – Static Shaq

Static Shock "Static Shaq" Clip - YouTube

Have you ever wanted to hear the Good Brothers discuss the NBA career accomplishments of Shaquille O’Neal? Well, you are in luck because this week’s episode reviews the Season 2 Static Shock episode “Static Shaq” where “Big Aristotle” makes his DCAU debut. The hosts talk about grading seasons 1 and 2 on a curve, the animation looking a little bit like a Robert Smigel cartoon, similarities to the Scooby-Doo/Globetrotters crossover and other Hanna-Barbera toons, and second-guessing if Shaq was actually the one to voice himself in this episode. Cal also doubles down on his issues with the soundtrack and the hosts discuss how they might have pitched a Shaq appearance if they had been in charge in 2002. All of this, a full scorecard, and a preview of next week’s episode on this week’s DCAU Review!
