Ep. 51 – Elseworlds – Hunted

The Good Brothers put a bow on their Elseworlds of Batman month on this week’s episode. All month, the guys have been celebrating the 80th anniversary of The Dark Knight by reviewing various incarnations of Batman in animated form. This week they wrap up with the pilot episode of 2013 3D-animated show Beware The Batman. Topics include Alfred as more than Batman’s chef, the series creators choice to be wildly different with choosing Batman’s rogues, the indie-rock theme song, some familiar names involved in the production and voice cast, and whether this episode piques the interest enough to watch the rest of the series.

Ep. 50 – Elseworlds – Batman: Under The Red Hood

 

The silver episode of the DCAU Review continues the Good Brothers’ exploration of the Elseworlds of Batman, as they celebrate Batman’s 80th birthday. This week they’re covering Batman: Under The Red Hood, the 2010 DVD release that adapts the Under The Hood storyline from the comics. The guys talk having the comic writer adapting his own story into animated form and whether that might have been a detriment to the animated feature. They also discuss a bloated story, a large voice cast with a few inconsistent performances and the mashup of animation styles used. The Good Brothers are celebrating The Dark Knight’s 80th birthday all month long, with a look into some Batman Elseworlds stories within DC animation.
